Makassar, September 23, 2025 – Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) has once again affirmed its position as an internationally recognized university by welcoming two students from Timor Leste, recipients of the UMI International Student Award (UISA) granted by the UMI Waqf Foundation.
The two students are Lucilda Ana Ximenes (Communication Studies, Faculty of Literature, Communication & Education) and Selvia Araujo De Conne (Accounting, Faculty of Economics & Business). They were selected from more than 200 applicants from Timor Leste through a competitive selection process facilitated by the Indonesian Cultural Center, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dili.
Head of the International Affairs Office (KUI) UMI, Ir. Hj. Setyawati Yani, ST., MT., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., stated that the admission of these students reflects the growing international trust in UMI.
“UMI has just welcomed two international students from Timor Leste through the UISA program. Both successfully passed a rigorous selection process and are now officially part of the UMI academic community,” she said.
Meanwhile, UMI Vice Rector V, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muhammad Hattah, MS., expressed appreciation for the initiative and hard work of KUI UMI in expanding international networks and attracting foreign students.
“The UISA program is in line with UMI’s vision to become an excellent, high-quality, Islamic, and globally competitive university,” he emphasized.
With the arrival of international students, UMI continues to strengthen its international reputation while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and multicultural academic atmosphere.
