Makassar, 23 November 2024 – To enhance capacity and expand international networks, the leaders and staff of the International Office of Universitas Muslim Indonesia (KUI UMI) conducted a staff exchange program at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. This program took place over three days, from November 19 to 21, 2024.
The outbound staff mobility program aimed to strengthen the collaboration between UMI and Universiti Malaya as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. Additionally, it sought to enhance the capacity of KUI UMI staff in the area of internationalization.
During the visit, the KUI UMI delegation participated in various activities, including; discussions and workshops on strategies for managing international student mobility, developing academic collaboration programs, and promoting the campus on a global scale. Other activities included direct observation of the operations of the Universiti Malaya International Office, such as; the management of foreign student admissions and the implementation of student exchange programs.
The Head of KUI UMI, Ir. Hj. Setyawati Yani S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng, stated that this activity was highly beneficial for staff capacity development. “We have learned a great deal from Universiti Malaya, particularly regarding innovation in international programs. We hope this collaboration will continue and bring tangible benefits to both institutions,” she said.
The Head of KUI UMI also expressed her gratitude to the leadership of Universiti Malaya, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yvonne Lim Ai Lian, for their warm reception and the facilities provided, ensuring the success of this staff mobility program.
Through this activity, it is expected that KUI UMI staff can implement the knowledge and experiences gained to improve the quality of international services at Universitas Muslim Indonesia. This step aligns with UMI’s vision to become a leading university with global competitiveness.
