KUI UMI Makassar – Office of International Affairs (KUI) of Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) holds the initiation of cooperation with Harper Adams University based in the United Kingdom of Britain. It is delivered by the head of KUI Setyawati Yani, S.T., M.T. P.hD shortly after giving a speech in the Senate chamber of UMI rector, at Menara UMI, Fl. 9, Monday, 25th April 2016.
In her speech, Setyawati said that currently UMI has been cooperating with various parties both inside and outside the country, and to support the vision of UMI towards World Class University (WCU), announced by the rector of UMI Prof.Dr.Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, MA.
Cooperation with Harper Adams University UK could be in the form of a research collaboration, double degree, and others as deemed appropriate by the vision and mission of UMI.
Andy Jones, the director of Learning and Teaching of Harper Adams University said Harper Adams University is also known to excel in the field of agriculture and engineering. The University has a focus in the field of food science, animal production. For cooperation, double degree program can be implemented, for example, for students S2 or master program of study or research for 1 year in the UK and 1 in UMI, or for eight months in the UK and four months in UMI to continue research.
“We want to find a role model for deployment in the UK. And for students S1 may be implemented dual degree program or double degree for two years or one year in the UK. Terms associated with the English language must have a minimum IELTS, 6, “he said.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture said Faculty of Agriculture this year gained trust from the Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia, it is realized in the form of planting papaya California conducted in Pesantren Darul Mukhlishin, Padang Lampe Pangkep.
Also, a short visit of students as it is currently done Faculty of Agriculture UMI by visiting Pangkep regency can be done in cooperation with Harper Adams University, where students of Agriculture UMI will be sent to the UK and so did students from Harper Adams University will also visit UMI. It is welcomed by Andi Jones who is also an international staff of Harper Adams University, the university recently awarded ‘Best University Students’ Choice Award for 2016′ of Whatuni Awards 2016.
