International Seminar “Empowering Future Innovators: From Aspiration to Leadership in STEM”

Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) and the Women Engineers Forum of the Indonesian Engineers Association (FPI-PII) held an international seminar themed “Empowering Future Innovators: From Aspiration to Leadership in STEM” at the Al Jibra Auditorium, Makassar, on Monday (September 23, 2024). The event was opened by the President of PII, Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, and attended by UMI leadership, including Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sufirman Rahman.

One of the main panelists was Chairlady of FPI-PII, Ir. Sri Hidayati, MSc., along with Prof. Hattah Fattah (Vice Rector V of UMI), Ir. Irene Lock (Petronas, Malaysia), Ir. Sharron Ng (IES WiSER, Singapore), and Prof. Wahidul Biswas (Curtin University, Australia).

This seminar is part of UMI’s strategy to achieve World Class University status by 2026 and aims to motivate students and pupils to engage in STEM fields. The participants included students from various universities as well as high school students from Makassar.

In addition to the discussion sessions, the event also featured a virtual reality demonstration by AIMMETRIX, introducing science and engineering through an innovative approach for the younger generation.
