ATN of Universities Visits UMI

KUI UMI – Australian Technology Network (ATN) of Universities explores cooperation with Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Makassar, on Tuesday, Nine August 2016.

ATN of Universities consists of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Curtin University Perth, University of South Australia, Adelaide, University of Technology Sydney, and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).


ATN visit to UMI is accompanied by Vice Consul of Australia Embassy for Makassar, Indonesia, Ms. Anne Dickson. The representatives of ATN represented Ms. Josephine Ratna, QUT Ms. Cicilia Evi, UTS Ms. Siska Yaputra, RMIT represented by Ms. Fenny Yunita Suwandhi, UniSA represented by Mr. Darren Turner, Curtin University represented by Ms. Corrine Li.

ATN representative was received by the Rector of UMI Prof. Dr. Hj Masrurah Mokhtar, MA, vice rector for cooperation affairs Prof. Dr. H. Ma’ruf Hafidz, SH, MH, and Head of the International Office of UMI Hj Setyawati Yani, ST, MT, Ph.D.

Rector of UMI, Prof. Dr. Hj Masrurah Mokhtar, MA said in her speech, UMI is the largest private university in eastern Indonesia. UMI was established 62 years ago, June 23, 2016 and has received national accreditation from BAN-PT.

“We have 13 faculties and 56 courses for bachelor, master and doctoral programs” she said.

In addition, UMI also has Research Center (LP2S), Quality Assurance Agency (LPM), Community Service Center (LPMD) and the Islamic Teaching Center (LPDKI).

Besides, UMI student body currently numbers 21,000 students. The flagship program owned UMI namely the Mind Enlightenment program or we call it ‘Pencerahan Qalbu’ in which students are required to attend the program for a month during a student at UMI. In terms of research, UMI has entered the main cluster.

“Insya Allah, we could have cooperation in various fields, UMI also has the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and the Faculty of Computer Science which is known ATN strong in engineering,” she said again.
